Yoga is meant to be inclusive, not exclusive.
Chair yoga is the use of 1 to 2 chairs, a mat, strap and blocks, if available. We do breath work to calm our bodies and teach our body that when something is uncomfortable or difficult that it’s not an emergency and we can use our breath to get through it. We build strength through yoga poses adapted for the chair. We play soothing music and create an atmosphere of ease and safety.
Chair based yoga is beneficial to everyone. You will build strength and flexibility; stress reduction; activate your mind and body; and increase listening skills.

I first found yoga in the mid-1990s while in college at an Iyengar studio. Always being drawn to service for others and a love of movement, yoga works congruently with my practice of physical therapy. I received a Masters in Physical Therapy in 1998, went on to complete a Fellowship in Orthopedic Physical Therapy in 2005, and became a Fellow in the American Academy of Orthopedic Manual Physical Therapists in 2006. I have an insatiable desire to continue to learn and grow and have had a steady practice of my own for years that provides the stability, resilience, and nourishment I have needed in my life. I am inspired by the interconnectedness and commonalities of different styles of yoga and healing arts. As a working mother of 2 boys, I find taking my yoga off the mat the most important and hardest thing I do. I hope to offer these same skills to others and meet each student where they are. I completed my 200 hr training in 2013 with Sarahjoy Marsh and have spent another 160 hrs with Jeanie Manchester in Boulder, Co. Inspired by the non-profit work of Sarajoy Marsh, I completed her training for DAYA (Delivering Accessible Yoga Alternatives) program and joined her team in Eugene in 2013. My teaching incorporates alignment, self-care, and space for each student to have their own experience of yoga.
