Alana Unfried
Biography
Alana Unfried (b. 1985) draws, paints, and likes photography. Her drawings are intuitive and playful, with lines that flow from a black sharpie, creating figures and faces that are all similar in structure yet unique in their details. She has a love for comics and replicating classics like Batman and Captain America and the Avengers. Her color palette often emphasizes the monochromatic with splashes of spot colors. Photography, on the other hand, allows her to put down the pens and pencils and capture the world around her to share with others. She has a wonderful eye for scenery, light, and color. In the fall of 2017 she completed a mentorship in Experimental Photography with local photographer Jacob Smith.
Unfried is a direct, thoughtful, and friendly person who appreciates art, coffee, and humor. A great self-advocate, she has clear ideas about the kind of artwork she enjoys doing and when she's ready to learn something new.
Her other areas of interest include singing, dancing, and acting. She works as a barista at Reality Kitchen and would love for you to stop in sometime to enjoy a cup of coffee. Unfried started taking classes at the OSLP Arts & Culture Program in the spring of 2013.
