Sherlyn Dendy
Biography
Sherlyn Dendy (b. 1955) is a painter that also enjoys drawing, watercolor, beading, sewing, sketching, and using charcoal. Her favorite method for creating art is drawing from photographs she has taken. Her subject matter generally includes portraits, animals, and scenery. She is a determined and curious artist and has found that the creative process helps her concentrate and puts her in a happy mood. Her work is detailed and whimsical, with fluid lines and attention to detail. Many of her paintings include flowers and lines that create a playful and fun dance around the canvas.
Dendy is a sweet, caring, and warm person who loves her family and friends. She comes into studio with an open mind and appreciates learning about new materials and new methods for art making. She completed a mentorship with artist Mari Livi in drawing and painting in 2016.
Born in Lexington, Kentucky, Dendy grew up in Lancaster, CA and now lives in Eugene in her own apartment. She began creating art in high school, and has attended classes at the Arts & Culture Program since the winter of 2013.
